NAMSAI, Feb 1:  Hundreds of people under the banner of All Tai Khampti Singpho Student’s Union and All Namsai District Student’s Union (ANDSU) today joined a mass protest rally against the state government’s statement to grant PRC to Non –APST of Lekang.
Speaking to the media, General Secretary ATKSSU, Chow Miling Khangkio further said that they want the state government to come up with an alternative instead of granting PRC to the people of Lekang.
“We are not in favour of granting PRC but at the same time we are also not against the people of Lekang. What we are doing is to protect our indigenous rights,” he added.
PRC once granted will put our own endangered Tai Khampti community in a grave condition, he rued while  urging the government to take strict action against the Namsai district administration for its incompetency and failure to prevent frequent bandh call, economic blockades etc in the district .
Meanwhile, Unions and indigenous people also opposed the Citizenship Amendment Bill.
