MAHADEVPUR, Apr 14:

More than 1300  people participated in the Samrasta divas cum public meeting to commemorate the birth anniversary  of Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar organised  by the Bharatiya Janata Party here today at Mahadevpur. Member of Lok Sabha, Dibrugarh,  Rameshwar Teli, BJP State General Secretary Jarpum Gamlin, VP Longwang  Rajkumar, State Secretary Doni Nich and others attended the programme.

Addressing the gathering, MP, Teli briefed the people on the contribution of Dr Ambedkar in upliftment of deprived society in India. 'Like Ambedker , Narendra Modi led BJP government  is also working for the downtrodden  people and has initiated more than 83 new schemes,' he added while appealing people to avail  the benefits.

Urging people not to believe in any hearsay about BJP working only for Hindu community, the MP said there are many people from different communities in BJP holding good position in party as well as in government which proves that BJP doesn’t discriminate on grounds of religion or caste.

He also asserted that Lotus will bloom in all eight Northeastern states soon and BJP will again form the government in the Centre with thumping margin. ‘For that we all have to work unitedly and should make sure that both eastern and western parliamentary  constituency  of Arunachal would be conquered by BJP in next parliamentary  election and preparation should start from Panchayat election,’ urged  Teli.

While greeting the people on Good Friday, Bihu and Sangken , General Secretary state BJP, Jarpum Gamlin also urged the people to shun mixing politics and religion.

Responding to criticism about coinciding of Good Friday and Samrasta Divas on the same day, Gamlin clarified that there is no intention to hurt anyone's religious sentiment.

‘Coincidentally April 14 is the birth date of Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar whereas the date of Good Friday keeps changing every year,  so next year Good Friday  will not fall on the same day,’ he added.

There are some antisocial elements that don't want to see India developing and are creating such propaganda against BJP, Gamlin added.

Among others, State Secretary Doni Nich & M Mayong ,District President Namsai Unit ,Sujana Namchoom and others also spoke on the occasion.
