Itanagar, Dec 6: Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar today in a review meeting held at his Office Chamber here at the Civil Secretariat directed the Hydro Power Development Corporation of Arunachal Pradesh Ltd. (HPDCAPL) to submit a detailed status report of all the hydro power projects in state being executed by them within one week.
Taking stock of the hydro power projects, Chief Secretary directed HPDCAPL to come up with expert opinions and solutions to address the current power generation deficiencies of the projects which are considerably lower than what they are supposed to generate originally.
It was informed by the Managing Director of HPDCAPL that out of 127 projects, 25 are lying defunct due to various reasons. Understanding the technical potential for hydro power development in Arunachal and the financial limitations of the state, CS directed HPDCAPL to prepare a list of defunct hydro power projects stating the reason(s) and also suggested to take consultative inputs from premiere institutions for revival of these defunct projects.

Meanwhile, he further advised the corporation to develop the transmission system in such a manner so that electricity could be shared from one project to another area/district during bad weather conditions. The current statuses of projects such as Sumbha Chu SHP (2x1.5 MW), Taksang Chu SHP (2x1.7 MW)  and Taksang Chu SHP (2X0.80 MW) at Tawang were also reviewed by the CS. PRO CS
