ITANAGAR, Jun 25: The Arunachal Pradesh Women’s Welfare Society met Home Minister Kumar Waii in Itanagar today seeking grant of financial assistance for Bini Todum who was injured during a bombing drill conducted by the Indian Air Force.
The retired SSB soldier was seriously injured when an IAF fighter plane dropped a bomb during one of its regular drills over Ruyu village in Dollungmukh circle of Kamle district on 8 June.
“During a recent visit by the members of the APWWS, we were informed that neither the state government nor the IAF has come forward with offer of financial help,” it said in the representation.
The society further asked the Home minister to parley with the IAF so that Todum, who is nearly 80 years old, is granted financial support for treatment as well as compensated adequately for the losses incurred.
The APWWS further said that state government should take up with the IAF regarding killings and injuries of animals during the drills.
“Safety and security of the citizens and their livestock must be secured at all cost”, the organisation said.
