PASIGHAT, May 19: A high-level team headed by Home Minister Bamang Felix and Health Minister Alo Libang visited  COVID care  center, Quarantine center and check gate Ruksin to take stock of preparedness. Several legislators including East Siang's DC, SP, DMO and others also accompanied the ministers.
The team visited COVID Care at North Eastern Institute of Folk Medicine (NEIFM) to take stock of the ICU and ventilators installed recently as well as the preparedness for COVID-19. Team also visited quarantine center at outdoor Stadium, Pasighat where stranded people from Green and Red zones are accommodated. Earlier, the team also visited Ruksin check gate which is the gateway to seven districts to see the challenges faced by the frontline warriors.
Addressing a short but fruitful meeting after the  inspection, Home Minister Bamang Felix expressed contentment over the management and preparedness of frontline warriors as well as district administration.  “I am very much pleased over the preparedness towards COVID-19 in the district," he said. He further urged the administration to maintain Information, Education and Communication (IEC) for better execution of the awareness towards the pandemic.
Expressing concern over truck drivers and their helpers, the Minister advised the district administration to track them properly and check their travel history as they could be asymptomatic carriers of COVID-19. He further urged the DM to continue their effort to segregate people as per their travel history of Red, Orange and Green zones.
Briefing about the steps taken by the Health department during this pandemic, Health Minister Alo Libang said ventilators have been already set-up in NEIFM, Pasighat and more will be setup in other districts.
On testing equipment, Libang informed that another Virology lab is in the pipeline at Pasighat but before that  TrueNat (Four Module) Testing machine  will be installed in the next few days. Similarly, machines will be installed at Tezu, Bomdila, Ziro and other district headquarters.
Earlier, Health fraternity submitted a representation to the Minister for posting of sufficient manpower as well as ambulances. Fraternity also expressed resentment over the transfer of  lone ICU In-charge in the midst of the lockdown period.
