ITANAGAR, May 27: With power supply still remaining disrupted in the districts of East Kameng, West Kameng, Pakke Kessang and Tawang due to torrential downpour, Chief Engineer, Power-West Zone & In-charge Transmission, Bar Takum while requesting the consumers of these districts to bear with the inconvenience has assured that efforts are on to restore power supply at the earliest.
“Work is in full swing in many areas and identification of damaged poles is still going on,” Takum said, adding that the departmental staff are working day and night to restore power supply. CE divulged that on Wednesday engineers have located a damaged pole between Nicipu and Sadar area in East Kameng and restoration work is on.
Linemen led by the engineers from Bhalukpong, Rupa, East Kameng have been pressed into service to identify and repair the faulty lines, CE informed. “Although on Tuesday our workers identified and restored a damaged tower (Number 156) and repaired it at around 12 pm, power supply could last only for a minute,” he added.
Requesting the consumers to bear with the inconveniences, he said that despite incessant rains, professionals are working without breaks risking their lives. Meanwhile, Rahung Hydel Power in Bomdila (85KW) and Dirang Hydropower (20kW ) are providing electricity for emergency services in the township  for one hour on a daily basis.
During the past week, East Kameng, West Kameng including parts of Pakke Kesang and Tawang have received heavy rainfall which has thrown the larger part of the power supply infrastructure in these districts completely out of gear.
