ITANAGAR, May 4: A meeting of the state task force for immunization was held at Itanagar today in which Commissioner Health, Kaling Tayeng, members and officers from HFW attended.

While welcoming the members, the Commissioner said that the Prime Minister was taking a keen interest in the immunization and other healthcare programmes in the country adding that the PM had asked the Chief Secretaries to ensure full coverage of immunization in their respective states. Tayeng urged all the stakeholders to travel the proverbial extra mile to reach out to children in all the nooks and corners of the state in spite of the shortage of manpower in the department. While assuring to strengthen the manpower as per feasibility, the Commissioner asked the DMOs to engage the staff from different wings of the department to ensure effective and timely completion of immunization. He however, expressed his concern over the inordinate delay in implementation of some schemes and asked the concerned officers to pull up their socks.

 In his power-point presentation on MI-4 round-3 SIO Dr. Padung told the participants that all the districts had conducted DTFI, barring Longding district, all the districts had submitted Micro Plan. He said that though there had been a marked improvement in the performance of some districts, some other districts were lagging behind. He admitted that problems existed, especially in disbursal of payment to the ASHAs for want of Banking services in some areas. Padung further urged the members and all stakeholders in the district to cooperate with the department.
