ITANAGAR, Oct 22: The Gauhati High Court Itanagar Bench has stayed the eviction drive of structures to be carried out by the authorities from October 23 which fall within the Right of Way (RoW) along the NH 415 from Chandranagar to Papu Nallah.

The HC stay order comes  following a writ petition filed by Itanagar Commercial Building Affected Owner's Welfare Association before the vacation bench of Gauhati High Court Itanagar Bench vide WP ( C ) No. 530(A.P)/2018.

Meanwhile, the HC in its order directed the respondent (read district administration) to maintain status- quo until the grievances of the petitioners as ventilated in their application are readdressed effectively and granted adequate compensation. Earlier, a writ petition was filed by members of ICBAOWA against an eviction order allegedly issued by the Extra Assistant Commissioner-cum-Estate officer, Itanagar without granting any compensation and without any opportunity of hearing.
