Changlang, May 6: In a major blow to NSCN-R, Changlang police along with security forces under command of SP Changlang Mihin Gambo on Wednesday apprehended two top cadres of the outlawed organization.
One team led by Inspector C.A Namchoom, OC PS Changlang along with Civil police, 9th Assam Rifles and 171 CRPF launched a joint operation at the general area of Rangkatu village under Changlang Circle. In the wee hours of Wednesday, one hardcore cadre identified as Town Commander SS Rajapio and Chingmong Mamai aged 24 years were apprehended from an agriculture hut located in an isolated area.  
During house search, contraband substance suspected to be opium weighing 255 gm approx was recovered from their possession. On-the-spot interrogation revealed that the apprehended duo came for extortion in the name of NSCN-R. They are also wanted in other extortion cases in Changlang PS.
Meanwhile, in another raid, a team led by Inspector K Techi, OC PS Manmao along with 9th Assam Rifles launched a joint operation at the jungle area of Old Jukhi under Manmao Circle on the same day. During the combing operation, one underground cadre identified as SS 2nd Lieutenant Mr Jungham Sajung (41years) was apprehended from a forest tract near the village.
Separate cases had been registered at Changlang PS and Manmao PS against the apprehended ultras under relevant sections of law. SP Changlang PR
