PASIGHAT, Feb 22: A 6-day hands-on training programme on “Molecular Techniques” started at College of Horticulture & Forestry, Central Agricultural University, Pasighat in the Department of Basic Science and Humanities under Institutional Advanced Level Biotech Hub Project. The programme is sponsored by the Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India.

The objective of training programme is to refresh the technical staff, research scholars and students of different domains of agriculture, horticulture and allied disciplines to creating biotechnological awareness and popularizing the biotechnological knowhow among participants.

Delivering the welcome address, Course Director Dr. Amit Kumar Singh, Assistant Prof. (Biotechnology), highlighted the objectives of the  programme in detail as well as the mandates of establishing Biotech Hubs in NE Region and importance of molecular techniques in agriculture sciences.

In his inaugural speech, Prof. BN Hazarika, Dean, College of Agriculture, CAU, Pasighat, discussed about the recent advances in tissue culture of horticultural plants and also urged the scientists to use the molecular tools and techniques for production of quality planting material.
