ITANAGAR, May 26: The Galo Welfare Society (GWS) has provided financial help to 734 persons of Galo community stranded outside the State since March 25 due to the nationwide lockdowns declared by the Centre in view of COVID-19 pandemic.
The GWS COVID-19 mission was necessitated on being informed about the untold miseries and uncertainty faced by the Galos stranded outside the State due to racial discrimination, financial crisis, mental trauma, scarcity of food etc. 
A steering committee was constituted with Mipu Sora Ori, President, GWS (W/W) as Chairperson, Er. Binga Gara, Secretary (Media & Publicity), GWS as Vice-Chairman, Kenbi Kamki, Secretary (Transport & Mobilisation) as Member Secretary and 20 other coordinating members from GWS Central Executive Committee, Galo Students Union (GSU) and Galo Youth Organisation (GYO) which coordinated with Galos stranded in several parts of the country on a mission mode from April 15 and the mission culminated with last financial help provided on May 25.
The President GWS Er.Tanga Kena and General Secretary Gomar Basar has extended their profound gratitude to all the well wishers of Galo community who have generously donated on humanitarian ground to financially help the stranded community members.
