ITANAGAR, Aug 12: The Galo Students' Union has submitted a representation to the state government for naming the state’s lone Law College, Jote, after former Chief Minister late Jarbom Gamlin.
The GSU team led by its President Mepe Ete met Education Minister Er. Taba Tedir at his office and apprised him of the decision taken by the state government to name the college after the late leader.
On 24th February 2015, then Chief Minister Nabam Tuki had announced his government’s decision to immortalize the contributions of imminent personalities who served the people in various capacities as Chief Ministers and Ministers. It was publicly announced that the Government Law College at Jote near Itanagar shall be named after Late Jarbom Gamlin, former Chief Minister. But, unfortunately, no proper action seems to have been initiated as on date by the subsequent Government in furtherance of the earlier Government's decision, the Union said.
Now, since the Government Law College is ready to commence regular LLB courses from this session, as such the Galo community is expecting it to be named after Late Gamlin as decided. Therefore, the Galo Students' Union earnestly requests your kind office to initiate necessary action to name the Government Law College after our former beloved Chief Minister, it reiterated.
