ITANAGAR, Apr 27:Expressing concern over non-execution of various developmental schemes and projects meant for the development of Gensi and Sibe Circles under West Siang District by various concern departments, the Galo Students Union has urged the Chief Secretary to initiate a high level SIT inquiry into the misappropriation of funds of various projects undertaken in the two circles from last six years and sought stringent action against those involved.

Armed with RTI documents, the GSU claimed the government has sanctioned various development packages for improvement of Road from Taramori Village to Tango Village (24 km), construction of various roads in the nearby areas, RCC bridges, culvert under rehabilitation and resettlement packages for lower Subansiri Hydro Power Project affected people of Tahrap and Siberijo area of Gensi along with others.

However the union said that most of the development projects were either non-functional or left incomplete in the area and funds meant for small uplift projects in the two circles were allegedly embezzled.

Referring to the union’s latest visit to the area to inspect the progress of various ongoing developments works being executed under various agencies including RWD and PWD in the two circles, the union claimed that through RTI it was learnt that executing department has submitted work completion certificates but in real most of the culverts, RCC Bridges, Roads constructed are of sub standard quality and rest are left incomplete.

The lifeline road of both the circles also remains in pathetic condition and  never upgraded during last five years despite huge funds sanctioned , due to which public and in particular commuters are facing enormous difficulties, GSU further added while requesting CS to immediately order investigation into the misappropriation of development funds.
