Toru, Nov 25: The three-day long Golden Jubilee Celebration of Government Secondary School Toru concluded here in a befitting manner on November 23 last.
MLA 14-Doimukh AC Tana Hali Tara who graced the valedictory function as chief guest congratulated the people of Toru Circle and the team of school’s alumni for organising the celebration in a memorable way. Speaking on the importance of education he appealed all guardians to encourage their children to get proper education and career guidance. Hali presented mementoes of Golden Jubilee Celebration of the alumni of first batch students which included former Chief Minister and local MLA 15-Sagalee AC Nabam Tuki and a host of educationists, medical practitioners, technocrats, public leaders, contractors, GBs and others. Golden Jubilee Souvenir was also released by him on the occasion along with distribution of prizes to the winners of various events. 
Tuki, who is also the Chief Patron of the programme advised the GBs, PRI leaders, government employees, youths and public of Toru Circle to maintain peace and harmony and informed that for improvement of the school, an alumni association will be formed shortly. Organising Chairman of the ceremony Tagu Tana Tara who himself was a student of the first batch highlighted the school’s history and thanked all for making the celebration successful. Colourful cultural items, sports and literary events were also organised where people from all walks of life enthusiastically participated. On the sidelines of the celebration, Free Medical Camp at PHC, Toru by Papum Pare District Health Society in collaboration with R.K Mission Hospital and Career Counselling for students of Toru circle by Father Cyriac SDB, Director Don Bosco Youth Centre, Itanagar and Director, CDC, RGU Professor Dr. Nabam Nakha Hina were also organised. 
It will be worth recalling that Government Secondary School Toru, which is located under Sagalee Sub-Division of Papum Pare district commenced journey as a Lower Primary School in 1969 during the NEFA days and started  functioning formally from 1970.  DIPRO
