NAMSAI, Apr 16:Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein formally launched the “Gram Swaraj Abhyan”, a nationwide outreach program for 100% saturation of beneficiaries at a function organized in Namsai on April 14 last. While paying tribute to the architect of the constitution Dr BR Ambedkar on his birth anniversary, Mein emphasized on the need of reaching out to the poor and downtrodden by the Government as well as the system.

He said that the people at the last mile seldom get opportunity to reach out to Government in existing system which needs to change. He lauded the visionary concept of PM Narendra Modi to launch the Gram Swaraj Abhiyan with an aim to uplift the last in queue- the Antodaya.

‘Earlier the poor & needy required reaching out to the offices and officials for government assistance whereas the present BJP Government is contemplating to bring the administration at fingertip or at the door step of the poor & needy for ensuring 100 % coverage without pilferage,’ DCM said.

He informed that the present Government both in centre & State is working on outcome instead of output concept in scheme implementation and hence the Gram Swaraj Abhiyan will be monitored by Central Govt Group ‘A’ officers and monitored online in real-time. This will ensure time bound completion and transparency in implementation, he said.

At ZIRO, 

Along with rest of the state the Gram Swaraj Abhiyan ( village self -governance campaign) was officially launched by Deputy Commissioner Kemo Lollen at Ziro. 

Terming the campaign as an effort to re- sensitize the common people of the various welfare schemes launched by the government, the DC called for sincere efforts from all the line departments in utilising the fortnight to reach out to maximum number of people. 

"The success of any welfare program depends on people's participation , officers initiation and a strong feedback mechanism ," he added and called for a unified effort from all the stakeholders. 

He further dealt on length about the activities to be undertaken during the fortnight. 

ZPC Hage Kobin while speaking on the occasion called out for re-emphasizing priorities like cleanliness and straightening Panchayat Raj Institutions. 

While suggesting for 100% participation of all the elected PRI members, he requested the DPDO to hold another sitting with them to ensure their participation as well. 

Kick starting the campaign as Samajik Nyaya Diwas or the Social Justice Day under the department of ICDS, Deputy Director Smt. C Thangjam dealt in length about the schemes and programs under social justice. 
Similar programmes have been reported from several district headquarters across the state.
