ITANAGAR, Dec 2: Capital Police on Monday recovered a stolen Bolero Camper vehicle by tracking its location following the GPS device fitted in the vehicle within a very short period. 
The vehicle was reportedly stolen on November 30 midnight from capital’s H Sector. On receipt of the complaint at Itanagar PS, a  case numbering 19/19 u/s 379 IPC was registered and Sub Inspector N Nishant was assigned to investigate the case. During investigation it was discovered that the stolen vehicle was equipped with GPS system which was still functioning. Later, a police team led by SI Nishant, PP Dewari and Itanagar PS Hardman H Lamra started chasing the vehicle following the GPS signal. Finally the vehicle was found lying in an abandoned state  in North Lakhimpur Civil Hospital Complex, thus  making the recovery complete within 6 hours with the help of the Lakhimpur Police. Although police failed to apprehend the main accused, attempts are being made to nab the culprit, police said.
Meanwhile, SP Capital,  Tumme Amo while appreciating the swift action taken under the guidance of OC Inspector Minley Gaye with  supervision of SDPO T Sikom, appealed all vehicle owners to install GPS systems in their vehicles that would help police in solving such cases in much less time.
