Governor chairs high-level security review meeting
ITANAGAR, Apr 9:The All Yobin Students Union (AYSU) has served a 10-day ultimatum to the state government to cancel the rights to partake in Panchayati Raj institution given to ex-Assam Rifles settlers at Vijaynagar under Changlang district.
In a representation addressed to the Chief Minister, the union while seeking his immediate attention in the matter has alleged that not only allowing outsiders to partake in PR system goes against PR guidelines , but such privileges to temporary settlers is not permitted anywhere else in the state also.
Alleging that their plea went unheeded and not responded till date despite submission of several memorandums, the union lamented that its people now have become aliens in their own homeland with the implementation of the order.
It also went on to call the move of the government to allow non-indigenous settlers in PR system as a “bias act” or strategy to sideline the local Yobin tribe that is already facing a lot of problems such as identity crisis and other untold sufferings since last many decades.
Later affirming to pursue the matter rigorously, it urged the CM to direct the Deputy Commissioner, Changlang to immediately remove all the names enrolled for Panchayati Raj and threatened to intensify their protest if their demands were not fulfilled within the deadline.
