ITANAGAR, Dec 21: The Arunachal Indigenous Tribes Forum (AITF) on Friday questioned the state government’s lackadaisical attitude towards their repeated demands for early execution of the Trans Arunachal Highway in Lower Subansiri district.
Informing that it had submitted a memorandum to the Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari seeking his intervention in the infamous highway scam, AITF chief Bengia Tolum hoped that their grievances would be addressed soon.
Referring to the speech by MoS Home, Kiren Rijiju over the TAH, Tolum questioned the MP for giving a clean chit to himself and holding people responsible for non-completion of the TAH road even after a decade.
“If the public is responsible for the delay, what are flaws that were made by the people which delayed the project?” he questioned.
Terming the TAH scam a systematic scam and conspiracy, Bengia disclosed that according to their finding there were altogether 43 fake bills made, with many getting compensated largely for having property inside the reserve forest and for non-existing infrastructures.
The AITF further asked the government to make public all the criteria, beneficiaries list, action plan and current status of the TAH issue.
