GUWAHATI, Jan 17: Joint Secretary, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Vikram Sahay has appealed all its media units to adopt an integrated approach in disseminating information about Government schemes and programmes to the needy.
According to Sahay, Government Schemes will be beneficial only if the information and benefit reaches the common people and stated that for this Government media has to play a very important role in disseminating information to the public.
He made this appeal while reviewing the activities of the media units of Ministry of I & B of the North East Zone in the 2nd zonal conference held here at Guwahati.
He also appreciated the efforts of Director General, North East Zone, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting in bringing all the media units of Ministry of Information and Broadcasting under one roof at Chandmari in Guwahati.
Sahay further reviewed the publicity activities of all the media units of Ministry of I&B functioning in North East Zone. He also took stock of feedback received from all the Information officers and other staff posted at different location about the implementation and impact of various government schemes with a special emphasis on programmes of Poshan Abhiyan, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao and Swachh Bharat Mission.
Sahay assured that the Ministry will provide all possible assistance to develop the office infrastructure of all the media units under the modernization scheme.
DG, NE Zone, K.S Dhatwalia, called for wider dissemination about various developmental schemes of the government, saying that “connectivity is no more a problem in the offices of the North East Zone as all the offices are now well equipped for smooth functioning. He mentioned that Aadhaar enabled Bio-metric Attendance System, Video Conference and other facilities have been put in at few places during last year and the process will be completed this year.
More than 50 officials who are in charge of publicity activities in North East Zone participated in the two day long programme including the Indian Information Service officers and representatives from Press Information Bureau and Regional Outreach Bureau of all northeastern states.
