ITANAGAR, May 2: A team of German Embassy and Consulate officials today paid a courtesy call on the Governor of Arunachal Pradesh Brig. (Dr.) B.D. Mishra (Retd.) today here at Raj Bhavan and discussed areas of mutual interest and cooperation, particularly concerning the state’s power sector.
Chargé D'affaires, German Embassy, New Delhi Dr. Jasper Wieck accompanied by Head of Economic Cooperation & Development, Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany, Christina Hieronymus and Consul General, German Consulate General, Kolkata Dr. Michael highlighted the vast potentials of the state in hydropower. Governor said that German government can cooperate with the state in line with Indo-German Energy Pact signed between the two countries.
The Governor emphasized on the cooperation with the German government in the fields of capacity building, training and establishment of a state-of-the-art training institute in the state in the fields of solar and hydropower energy. He called for mutual cooperation in the formulation and establishment of Smart Grid Projects, co-operation in the field of electricity system strengthening, infrastructure improvement and exploring the possibilities in technical promotion of solar and wind energies in the state.
The Governor also suggested the delegation for exploring the scope for cooperation in the hydro power projects in Arunachal Pradesh and stressed on cooperation between Indian and German Universities in academic programmes in higher and technical education, such as student and faculty exchange programmes etc.
Commissioner to Governor R.P. Upadhyay and Commissioner (Power), Government of Arunachal Pradesh G.S Meena were also present in the meeting. PRO Raj Bhavan
