Itanagar, Feb 17: Governor Brig. (Dr.) B. D. Mishra (Retd.) on Monday addressed the inaugural session of the XXth Higher and Technical Education Conference here at the Dorjee Khandu Auditorium in Assembly Complex.
Stressing on the need for making the educational stages of primary, secondary and college progressive and broad based, Governor emphasised on sticking to basic action points such as sending every child to school and the need for guardians to develop and inculcate ‘Start-up’ and ‘entrepreneurial tendency’ among their children right from school level. He said this is important since there is and will always be a mismatch between the increasing work force and limited job availability avenues. Besides effective implementation of education policies, education must be for enabling individuals and not just a certification process for securing jobs, he said. While emphasising on the need for having an improvement wave to develop the education system encompassing all elements of quality education such as competent teachers, effective teaching and & learning environment, regular assessment of education being imparted, he further stressed that selection of faculty must be totally merit based and there must be an appraisal system of teachers. Urging  the teachers and students to work with ‘Nation First’ attitude, he also stressed on having functional, efficient and result-oriented placement cells.
