ITANAGAR, May 9: Governor Brig. (Dr.) BD Mishra (Retd.) on Friday reviewed a number of vital issues concerning the state’s education sector with Education Minister Taba Tedir and Secretary Education Niharika Rai here at Raj Bhavan.
Among other things, they discussed about procurement of textbooks, progress status of opening of three new Kendriya Vidyalayas at Daporijo, Hawai and Namsai and construction of school buildings including the pre-fabricated structure for the incoming batch of 60 students in Sainik School, Niglok, East Siang district. Governor advised the Education Secretary to expedite procurement of textbooks for Classes I-XII so that students get it immediately after the schools reopen after lockdown. He also emphasized on 100% posting of Headmasters in all government schools for ensuring students’ interest and proper supervision.
It will be relevant to recall that based on his extensive tour and personal interaction with teachers and students at various places in the state, Governor had suggested for rationalization of posting of subject teachers so that due academic care can be taken cutting across all schools and there are no deficiencies of teachers. During the meeting he reminded that all teachers, as a part of their professional commitment, must also work in remote schools for the laid-down period.  
Governor, who has been keenly promoting the development of Sainik Schools in Arunachal Pradesh reviewed the progress of Niglok Sainik School campus and said proper planning, appropriate infrastructure, availability of amenities and optimum assimilation of natural ambience can only ensure an excellent campus. In this regard, he asked the Secretary Education to monitor its infrastructural progress with emphasis on quality of work and oversee its early completion.
Both Education Minister and Secretary Education briefed the Governor about the progress on various academic issues, apprised about the challenges faced by the state’s people and the progresses made in the Covid-19 fightback. PRO Raj Bhavan
