 Commission’s infra needs will be addressed: CM

ITANAGAR, Jul 7: Governor Brig. (Dr.) B.D. Mishra (Retd.) and Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Tuesday co-chaired an interactive meeting with the members of the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) and other senior officers here at the Raj Bhavan to review the Commission’s ongoing preparedness for conducting the forthcoming APPSC Combined Competitive Examinations.
Terming APPSC as a “critical institution” and reminding its overarching importance in fulfilling the dreams of the state’s youths aspiring to join the Civil, Police and other vital administrative services through maintenance of transparency and upholding merit as the sole determining criteria, Governor opined that there must be an Annual Calendar for APPSC examinations similar to the one followed by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). Stressing on its firm implementation, he said the calendar will immensely benefit the examinees, APPSC management and the State government as well. “Crystallization of the way forward for the APPSC is the need of the hour and its rules and procedures for conducting examinations must be impeccable with no scope for complaints and litigations,” Governor added. He further advised that there must be an integrated team effort by the Commission, State government, Civil Administration and Police to ensure fair conduct of the examinations and directed the stakeholders to work in unison to raise the quality of governance.
The Chief Minister while observing that the officers selected by the Commission are the medium through which policies and programmes are implemented, said that improvement of its efficiency will greatly help in more effective delivery of governance to the last mile. Exuding hope that timely conduct of APPSC examinations will improve the work culture and efficiency of the State government, he assured all assistance to the Commission, mentioning that the issues raised by it including the requirement of a new office building and appointment of a law officer are being pursued.   APPSC Chairman Nipo Nabam and Secretary A.R. Talwade gave a PowerPoint Presentation about the tasks, challenges and initiatives of the Commission for smooth conduct of the Combined Competitive Examinations and viva voce.

Upadhyaya, RGU VC Professor Saket Kushwaha, Commissioner Home Kaling Tayeng, Commissioner to Governor Ravindra Singh Yadav and members of APPSC namely C.P. Mansai, Tsering Naksang, Gamli Padu, IAS (Retd.) and Major General Ganesh Singh Bisht, VSM (Retd.) shared their observations and suggestions. PRO Raj Bhavan
