ROING, Mar 12:Governor BD Mishra visited Dembuen, the last village in Dibang Valley District towards the international border today. Accompanied by the First Lady of the State Neelam Misra and DIG, ITBP, SK Sharma, the Governor interacted with the villagers, government officials and the Indo Tibetan Border Police personnel posted in the outpost.
The Governor advised the villagers, government officials and personnel of armed forces to motivate and prepare local youth for recruitment in the armed forces. Home grown soldiers are the best soldier for the defence of the national integrity, he added.
The Governor exhorted the ITBP officers and personnel to do their duty with dedication, gallantry, responsibility and bravery. He urged them to secureevery inch of the land.
As a token of appreciation of their alertness and encouragement, he presented a cash award for a ‘Bara Khana’.
Earlier, W. Inaobi Singh, Second in Command, ITBP, briefed the Governor about the strategic post and the area.
Mishra, who is on a four day district tour, addressed a public meeting at Anini, District headquarters of Dibang Valley today.
The Governor called upon the people to actively participate in the developmental process.
Responding to the public requests, the Governor assured to take up the issue of basic requirements like petrol depot, connectivity and communication, with the concerned ministry.
Referring to his interaction with students on entrepreneurship and self-employment, who shared that loans are not easily available, the Governor urged upon the officials to go out of the way and facilitate loans to the budding entrepreneurs and encourage self-employment.
The Governor exhorted the officials to resolve to move forward and ensure that benefits of government programmes reach the last person in the queue.
The Governor advised the officials to get involved and ensure transparency and accountability. He emphasised that the officials must follow up all projects and programmes.
Expressing surprise and pain about the large number of suicide cases in the district, the Governor assured to take up with the concerned authority to send a psychiatrist to the District Hospital.
Interacting with the District heads of department, the Governor there must be transparency, accountability, continuity, audit and review and if required,midterm correction. He stressed that there must be utmost transparency and merit in recruitment process particularly in police recruitment.
The Governor advised the officials to cut redtapesim,come out of their comfort zone and make little sacrifices. He exhorted them to resolve to get involved through transparency and accountability and to move forward. Be proactive, he added.
Later , the Governor also addressed a public meeting at Roing.
The Governor emphasised on girl education. Every girl child must be provided opportunities to be educated and excel in life.
Expressing his concern about drug addiction, the Governor said that addiction is due to neglect of the parents and guardians towards their wards and peer group.It is a social evil and people must address it at family and peer group level, he asserted.
