ITANAGAR, Oct 27:

Governor BD Mishra today inaugurated the ‘Cultural cum Food Fest 2018’, organised by Don Bosco College at its Jullang campus.

In his inaugural address, the Governor complemented the students and teachers for organising the festival, which showcased the rich traditions, particularly the culture, fine art and cuisines of the State. He said that promotion of such events can promote and attract tourists to the State which will benefit the people at large.

Impressed by the enthusiastic participation of the students, the Governor called upon the students to prepare themselves for the future challenges. He advised them to develop scientific temper, humanism and spirit for inquiry and reform with a view to take the state and nation forward. He also advised each and every student as a social responsibility to ensure that every child in the age group of 6 to 14 years goes to school, in true spirit of promoting humanism.

The Governor appreciated the “preventive system” of education of the college, which requires personal and dedicated involvement of the teachers in moulding the students into good persons and useful citizens of the country.

Father CC Jose, Rector, Don Bosco College and Father (Dr.) Jose George, Principal, Don Bosco College also spoke on the occasion.

A colourful cultural programme, depicting the traditional lores of various tribes of Arunachal Pradesh by the students was presented.

Later, the Governor, accompanied by First Lady Neelam Misra and Prof. Saket Kushwaha, Vice Chancellor, Rajiv Gandhi University visited the tribal houses, where different types of cuisines of Arunachal Pradesh were presented.
