ITANAGAR, Sep 18:Governor BD Mishra has called for concerted effort in creating conducive academic ambience in the National Institute of Technology campus. He said that NIT, Yupia must shine in all respects of academic excellence.

He said this when the Director, National Institute of Technology (NIT), Yupia, Prof P. Mohanta, called on him at Raj Bhavan today.

The Director, NIT, who has recently taken over the charge of the Institute briefed the Governor about the institution.

‘There must be joint effort from the Director, members of the faculty and students to make it the best technical institution in the North-eastern Region and the country. Its ranking in all India reckoning must improve and students’ placement must increase in this session,’ the Governor underscored.

Stressing on discipline, punctuality, innovation amongst the students and faculty, Mishra also asserted that students must be encouraged and motivated to think ‘out of the box’. He also stressed on cleanliness in the institution.

The Director, NIT assured the Governor of marked improvement in the NIT in the coming days.

Commissioner to Governor, Surya Prakash, Joint Secretary to Governor, Mamata Riba Naksang and Registrar, NIT, Prof. M. Shome were also present in the meeting.
