ITANAGAR, Jun 14:Governor BD Mishra today emphasized on commissioning blood bank in each district of thestate to meet emergencies. He also suggested that public representatives should contribute for blood bank commissioning and running in their respective constituency through their Local Area Development funds, appropriately on ‘need to contribute’ basis in the larger interest of the public.

Mishra was speaking during the World Blood Donor Day celebration at Raj Bhavan, Itanagar on Thursday.

He also complimented the voluntary blood donors cum motivators present on the occasion.  He also felicitated 138 Bn CRPF, Senki View, 31 Bn, ITBP and 12 Bn, NDRF, Doimukh for regularly participating in blood donation camps and blood donation by its personnel.

The Governor appreciated the efforts of Ramesh Jeke, Chairman, Arunachal Voluntary Blood Donor Organization (AVBDO), a unit of Arunachal Vivekananda Yuva Shakti (AVYS) in blood donation drive.

Sharing his experiences about blood donations, which he had volunteered till his permissible age limit, the Governor said that blood donation is humane act, selfless gesture, need of society and duty of every citizen. He further said that as blood cannot be manufactured, it creates a human bond amongst the donor and receiver.   

The Governor commended the doctors, nursing staff and volunteers of Ramakrishna Mission Hospital, Itanagar, State Blood Transfusion Council, Arunachal Pradesh State Aids Control Society and Arunachal Voluntary Blood Donor Organization and Blood Donors from Central Police Forces and Civil Societies for leading in the service for the welfare of society.

Swami Vishweshananda, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission Hospital, Itanagar, Dr. M. Lego, Department of Health Services, Dr. Nabam Budh, Deputy Director, State Blood Transfusion Council, Dr. Riken Rina, Project Director, Arunachal Pradesh State Aids Control Society and Ramesh Jeke, shared their experiences and challenges regarding blood donation.

Voluntary blood donors cum motivators Moley Mangfi, RGU, Aping Yakar, Itanagar, Bangram Tungi, East Kameng District, Toko Teji, Papum Pare District, Karge Riba, West Siang District, Habung Gyati, Forest Colony, Naharlagun, Hage Gyayo, Lower Subansiri, Minam Lego, East Siang District and Tah Ama, Papum Pare were present on the occasion.

First Lady Neelam Misra, Dr. Moji Jini, Director, Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Science, Naharlagun, members, doctors and nursing staff, trainees and volunteers of Indian Red Cross, Arunachal Pradesh Branch, State Blood Transfusion Council (SBTC), Ramakrishna Mission Hospital, Arunachal Pradesh State Aids Control Society (APSACS), Arunachal Voluntary Blood Donor Organization (AVBDO), Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Science, Naharlagun,  were present on the occasion amongst others.

92 individuals from NDRF, ITBP, CRPF, AVBDO, Oju Mission, Raj Bhavan, Nursing students from RK Mission Hospital and NGOs volunteered, of which 84 persons donated after medical check up. Two persons with ‘O’ negative were registered in the Blood Donation Camp organised by Raj Bhavan in collaboration with AVBDO & APSACS under the aegis of SBTC.
