Itanagar, Apr 10: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt. General K.T. Parnaik(Retd.) has conveyed good wishes to the people of the State on the festive occasion of Pongtu festival. He expressed hope that the festivity will herald in a new dawn of peace, harmony and prosperity for the community and the State.
In his message, the Governor said that Pongtu, an agricultural festival of the Tutsa tribe of Tirap and Changlang districts, is celebrated to welcome the New Year after the harvesting period, at the start of the rainy season. The festival is celebrated to invoke the blessings of Almighty God for bumper harvest and security of the crops against natural calamities in the new agrarian season. I am optimistic that the reverence attached to the Pongtu Festival will foster unity and goodwill within our society, he said.  
On this occasion, I join my Tutsa brethren in offering my prayers to Supreme God ‘Rangkathok’ for his choicest blessings to all of us, the Governor said in his message.
Parnaik, also greeted the Muslim brothers and sisters on the auspicious occasion of Eid ul Fitr. He expressed hope that the sacred occasion will usher-in goodwill and harmony.
In his message, the Governor said that the festival of Eid ul Fitr marks the culmination of the Holy Month of ‘Ramzan’, the month of prayers, blessings and forgiveness. This festivity reminds us of the absolute faith of the Ramzan observers in the Almighty and promotes benevolence amongst the people, he said.   
On this Eid, I seek Allah’s blessings for every one’s happiness and further strengthening the values of composite society, the Governor said in his message.
