ITANAGAR, Aug 24: Governor of Arunachal Pradesh Brig. (Dr.) B.D. Mishra (Retd.) and Chief Minister Pema Khandu have conveyed their condolences at the death of Arun Jaitley, the former Union Finance Minister and Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha.
In his condolence letter to Sangeeta Jaitley, wife of Arun Jaitley, Governor said he is deeply shocked to learn about the sudden and untimely demise of her husband. With Jaitley’s demise, the nation has lost a great visionary, statesman, outstanding parliamentarian, legal luminary, a towering intellectual and an able administrator who worked selflessly for the good of the nation. Jaitley was a brilliant orator, a man of impeccable integrity and a great supporter of democratic values, Governor wrote.
Jaitley held important positions as the country's Finance Minister, Defence Minister and Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha and has left an indelible mark as Finance Minister, placing India as the world's fastest growing economy and we shall always cherish his fondest memory, Governor said.
“I join the people of Arunachal Pradesh in conveying our sincere and heartfelt condolence to you and members of the bereaved family and pray to Almighty God for eternal peace of the departed soul,” his message read.
Reacting to Jaitley’s death, Khandu tweeted: “Deeply pained to hear about sad demise of former Union Minister #Arun Jaitley Ji. His passing away is a great loss to our country.
