ITANAGAR, Apr 10: The Governor of Arunachal Pradesh Brig. (Dr.) B.D. Mishra (Retd.) and Chief Minister Pema Khandu today extended their best wishes to the people of the state on the auspicious occasion of Pongtu festival, celebrated by the Tutsa community of Changlang district.
Pongtu, the agricultural festival of the Tutsa tribe of Tirap and Changlang districts is celebrated to welcome the new year after the harvesting period, to invoke the blessings of Almighty God for bumper harvest and security of the crops against natural calamities in the new agrarian season.
“On this occasion, I join my Tutsa brethren in offering my prayers to Supreme God ‘Rangkathok’ for his choicest blessings to all of us,” the Governor said in his message.
In his message this evening, the CM said that the Tutsa community is one of the most vibrant tribes of the state and the joyous celebration of the colourful festival is a testimony to it. He expressed optimism that the agricultural festival will successfully invoke the Almighty to usher in a new era of peace and progress in the state.
While lauding the indigenous communities of the state for taking pride in their respective cultures, he also expressed faith that people would not forget their duty to exercise their adult franchise on April 11. PRO Raj Bhavan & CMO Press Release
