ITANAGAR, Apr 12:Governor BD Mishra reviewed the status of the implementation of the national and state flagship programs at Ziro .

Addressing the HoDs, the Governor called for people friendly governance and exhorted the District Administration to traverse the extra mile to ensure that people are benefitted and governance reaches all sections of society.

‘Public servants are responsible to the people and should work with transparency, accountability, continuity and must subject their action to audit, review and do the mid course corrections wherever needed,’ the governor said.

Asserting that society will embark on a speedy developmental path if women are educated, Mishra called for ensuring 100% literacy for the women. “Every individual in society should contribute to improve and streamline the spread of education in the state,” he said.

He also called for gainfully engaging the youths so that their energy is channelized. He encouraged to take up sports, fine arts and music to keep them on the right track. He also reviewed the army recruitment rally preparations in the district.

“We need maximum number of home grown soldiers. All of us should encourage our able bodied eligible youth to avail this opportunity and join the Indian army. The recruitment in Army of 2000 strong Arunachal youth is my goal which I want to achieve in 2018-19,” the governor said.

 Emphasising on Swachh Bharat Mission he said that swachhta should start from our homes. Every individual should take part in Swachta Abhiyan  and inculcate cleanliness habits. He directed the UD department to find out and use effective ways of waste management as unplanned dumping cannot be a permanent solution for solid waste management.

He further called for effective implementation of Pradhan Manti Ujjwala Yojana which  aims at providing LPG connection to every household. This scheme should be sincerely implemented as it would save our mothers and sisters from the smoky chullahs, he added.

Dwelling on the programs implemented by the ICDS department he said, “The social assistance provided to the old and disabled people through the ICDS department should be done by DBT. The Director, ICDS should motivate and ensure all the beneficiaries to open bank accounts.”

 He also called for ensuring that the abandoned children at the children’s home should be treated with sensitivity and due care and imparted skill development training. They should be motivated and encouraged to join the mainstream of society. He said that he would make all efforts in locating the parents of a child from Assam now lodged in the children’s home at Ziro.

Speaking on tourism sector he said,“We should ensure a cordial and secure social atmosphere to attract the tourist flow in this beautiful valley. Good Lodging, boarding facilities and good connectivity will definitely improve tourists footfall in this area.”

He also directed PD, DRDA to ensure wages to be paid to the MNREGA registered workers only through DBT with a view to plug the fund leakages. For various bank related schemes launched by the government, the department concerned should sincerely follow up the cases with the banks and ensure written correspondence from the banks, he further added.

The Governor, held a public meeting attended by the Gaon Burrahs, PRI members, the general public and Govt. officials. He appealed all for successful implementation of the welfare and development schemes for which he said, total participation and cooperation of the public is a must.

The Governor was welcomed by Divisional Commissioner (West), Gamli Padu DC Lower Subansiri, Kemo Lollen, SP Bomge Kamduk among others.
