ITANAGAR, Apr 5:Governor BD Mishra met the Chief of Army Staff (CoAS) General Bipin Rawat, UYSM, AVSM, YSM, SM, VSM at New Delhi on Wednesday. They discussed about national security issues related to the state of Arunachal Pradesh. The Governor, who has visited the border posts recently, shared his observations with the CoAS.

The CoAS assured the Governor of the top operational readiness of the Indian Army deployed at the borders in Arunachal Pradesh to take on any challenges to national security. He also assured the Governor that the Indian Army will always continue to provide all kind of humanitarian help to the civil population residing in the border areas. The Chief of the Army Staff made a recommendation that the government must provide all amenities to the people living in the border areas so that they do not abandon their villages and move away from the border. He termed the people of border villages as the ‘national watch assets’.

The Governor apprised the CoAS of the plans of the government to develop the border villages. The Governor also apprised the CoAS of the confidence building measures being put in place to encourage the border villages to live on there.

While conveying goodwill to the people of the state for the pre recruitment rallies in different parts of the state, the Governor emphasized on enlisting of youths to which the Army Chief agreed to do his best to the optimum level.

As a good will gesture, the Governor presented a traditional Mishmi hat and body protection jacket.
