ITANAGAR, Sep 9: Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Alo Libang today said that the state and central government is committed to eradicate malnutrition to make every child healthy to build a healthy nation.
Libang was speaking at the Poshan Mela organised by the Department of Women & Child Development today at the DK convention centre here as part of the Rashtriya Poshan Maah-2019 being celebrated across the country all through the month of September.
The minister also appealed all to contribute to achieve the basic objective of the Abhiyaan and requested all Secretaries of the line departments to cooperate and coordinate for implementation of Abhiyaan in the State by creating synergy robust convergence mechanism.
Stalls were put-up by various line departments showcasing food items and their nutritive values. Later an awareness meeting was held attended by the Secretaries and Directors of line departments, Deputy Director (ICDS), CDPOs of ICDS Projects of Papum Pare district, field functionaries, Anganwadi workers and helpers, pregnant & lactating mothers and self help groups.
While welcoming all, Niharika Rai, IAS briefed about objectives of PM’s Poshan Abhiyaan and importance of celebrating Rashtriya Poshan Maah-2019 as a Jan Andolan.
“This is a very important scheme for upgrading nutritional status of children below 6 years, adolescent girls and pregnant & lactating mothers,” she further added. Everyone present in the meeting took pledge to take message of right nutrition to every household with slogan – “sahi poshan, desh roshan”.
A short movie titled “Thank You Anganwadi Didi” launched by Union Minister for Women & Child Development, Smriti Irani, highlighting the importance of an Anganwadi Worker for nutritional upgradation and maintaining health & hygiene in respect to children below 6 years, adolescent girls and pregnant & lactating mother was screened. Also, a short movie on importance of exclusive breast feeding up to 6 months and complementary feeding was screened.
State Nodal Officer of Poshan Abhiyaan, DK Thungon, made a power point presentation on Poshan Abhiyan with its objectives, roles and responsibilities of the line departments in implementation of the scheme from State level to grassroots level.
A patriotic song by the students of Oju Welfare Association was performed followed by distribution of POSHAN hamper containing Take Home Ration to the pregnant and lactating mothers by the Minister.
