ITANAGAR, Dec 21:  The Arunachal Civil Society (ACS) on Friday called for creation of separate State Project Director (SPD) post to efficiently run and manage the Integrated Scheme for School Education (ISSE), erstwhile SSA, RMSA and STE under education department.
Interacting with press reporters, ACS, chairman Patey Tayum requested the State government to relieve the Education Secretary, who is presently handling the ISSE related issues as additional in-charge saying that ‘she is already overburdened with regular official duties.’
Underlining the need of a separate SPD, the ACS chief said there is an urgent need of an officer who has a better understanding of the role and can independently deal with the kind of challenges it incorporates.
He also expressed concern over poor performance by students in the last CBSE examination, terming it as a reflection of the dismal education scenario that needs introspection from all stakeholders.
Admitting it is a collective failure of the entire society, Tayum however said that the major share of the blame goes to the education department for its poor education policies.
"No remedial measure to revamp the education scenario has been taken up after the fiasco,” Tayum said adding that he has met Minister Education recently in this regard and submitted a memorandum.
Tayum further also asked the state government to expedite the process of recruitment of 1309 teaching and non teaching posts as announced in the year 2016.
