SEPPA, Dec 26: Legislator Tapuk Taku, while speaking at the 3rd foundation day cum first-ever general conference of the East Kameng Gorkha Welfare Society (EKGWS) held here at the Buddhist Gompa last Wednesday, acknowledged that the Gorkha community is amongst those communities that work hand-in hand with the local people of East Kameng district in bringing social and structural development.
Addressing the gathering, Taku while wishing the Gorkhas also asked them for work for unity, peace, love and prosperity of the district. “I always viewed the Gorkha community as my family and therefore the indigenous people of the district should always respect and remember the contributions of the community in the development of the district over all these years,” he said, while requesting all to maintain brotherhood and peace. Taku requested the youths, seniors and executive members of the EKGWS to be the helping hands. “Maintain brotherhood, harmony and unity in a multi-cultural and multi-ethnic society such as the one in the district,” he added. He also urged the Gorkhas to shoulder the responsibility of making the district a better place to live in.
Meanwhile, he praised the Gorkha youths for upholding their culture and traditions and forming a united front to address their issues.
