ITANAGAR, Sep 26:   The Joint Action Committee for Postal Department Fiasco (JACPDF), a coalition of approximately 12 civil society organizations, is prepared to launch a widespread "civil disobedience movement" across all districts of Arunachal Pradesh. This action comes in response to the perceived failure of the Director of Postal Services to address their demands, prominently the cancellation of the ongoing recruitment process for 2,596 Gramin Dak Sevaks (GDS) against Arunachal Pradesh.
According to JACPDF Convener  Raj Pao, multiple representations have been submitted, including one to Chief Minister Pema Khandu, urging his intervention in the matter. However, as of now, there has been no positive response. Similar representations have also been made to relevant authorities, appealing for an amicable and swift resolution. Regrettably, these authorities have shown reluctance in addressing concerns related to the appointment of non-APST candidates in 866 branch post offices across the state.
Pao further called upon "gao burahs" and other local authorities not to provide residential proof certificates or "No Objection Certificates" (NOC) to individuals claiming affiliation with the Postal Department if they are not of APST origin.
Among their key demands, JACPDF is advocating for the inclusion of local dialects recognized by the state government in the GDS recruitment rules under section 3 B(ii) of the postal department. They are also demanding that each candidate possess a domicile certificate from the state, and they call for the immediate cancellation of previous appointments of non-APST individuals, along with a halt to the ongoing appointment process of non-APST candidates.
In a previous demonstration of protest, JACPDF members locked the two main entrance gates of the Itanagar branch post office as a symbolic gesture during their civil disobedience movement.
