NAMSAI, Apr 29:With an aim to empower the Gaonbura institutions & as a welfare measure for them, State Government had decided to provide TV sets to all Gaonburas of the state through Finance, Planning & Investment Department. In a function attended by Chau Zingnu Namchoom , Parliamentary Secretary of Planning, Colour TV sets & Set Top Box GBs in Namsai, Piyong & Lathao  Circles of Namsai Constituency were distributed.

While addressing the GBs, Zingnu Namchoom informed the GBs that the TVs have been provided to them under CMs Information scheme which will enable them to gather knowledge about various developmental & welfare initiatives of both central & state government. He urged the GBs to aware the public in respective villages about these schemes which is also a part of “Sankalp se Siddhi” launched by Prime Minister, Narendra Modi. It is to be mentioned that the fund for procurement & distribution of TV set was provided by the State Government whereas the funds for Set Top Box & Dish TV have been provided by the Local MLA from his resources.

While presiding over the meeting the Deputy Commissioner, RK Sharma reiterated the importance of Gaonbura institution in overall development of villages and requested the GBs to cooperate in execution of developmental schemes. He also specially urged the GBs to monitor the functioning of educational and health institutions, works of ASHA and Anganwadis.

The DC further requested them to inform any illegal activities within the villages including illicit poppy cultivation and drug peddling to district administration.

The GBs expressed gratitude to the State Government led by Chief Minister Pema Khandu and Deputy CM Chowna Mein. They also expressed about certain difficulties being faced by them. It was decided to hold quarterly circle level GB conference to discuss and sort out the difficulties in a participatory process. DIPRO
