NAMSAI, Sep 21: State BJP President Tapir Gao called upon the youths to keep away from drugs and opium menace to save the community, during the celebration of Solung by the Adi community of Namsai under Central Solung Festival Celebration Committee-2018 at Samuguri village in Namsai district today.
Attending as the Chief Guest, Gao also emphasized on preservation of tradition and culture. ‘Youths are the torch-bearers of society and they have to carry forward the age old tradition but if they indulge in drugs and other substances then the day is not far when our culture will cease to exist,’ said Gao.
Further advocating for Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Gao said, ‘ Namsai is like a mini India and has blend of culture as well as communities , so if every community takes pledge to keep their areas clean and hygienic then Namsai would be one of the cleanest districts of the state’.
Greeting the people on the occasion of Solung, local MLA Chow Zingnu Namchoom informed that Namsai is one of the most developing districts, no doubt it has been designated as ‘aspirational’ district of the state. He also appealed to the people to cooperate with the administration to make the district elegant and developed in all sectors.
While responding to the representation on creation of new Jaipur circle, the local MLA informed that the file has been already moved to the concerned department and it will soon be placed in the Assembly.
Among others, Deputy Commissioner Namsai Dr Tapasya Raghav, Bishop, Miao Diocese, PK George and other HoDs also joined the celebration. Earlier, Gao also inaugurated ‘Lotong gi-di Nokto ‘ a community hall in the same venue. Various cultural events, traditional sports, community feast were also organized to mark the day.
