ITANAGAR, Mar 20: Responding to the alleged earth cutting activities being carried out rampantly on the periphery of the Geykar Sinyik Lake, Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Talo Potom along with CO Bittu Kri and other officials today visited the spot to assess the on-ground situation.
“As soon as I got the information about the earth cutting activities, I issued an order to stop it and since it is illegal, necessary action will be taken against the persons involved”, ADM asserted. He further added that earth cutting is allocated only to those who possess LPC or land allotment and geo-tagging is a part of the process to check any misuse. However, earth cutting on the periphery of Ganga Lake is illegal as there is no permission, ADM stated. “As an immediate action I will issue a notice under 145 CrPC and if needed 133 CrpC will also be invoked against the person(s) who have encroached the catchment area, he assured. Moreover, information will also be shared with the DC and the concerned department like Environment & Forest so that a suitable act can be applied against the encroacher(s), stated Talo. Circle Officer-Itanagar informed that administration will extend all possible assistance to immediately demarcate the boundary of the lake, adding that an enquiry will be held against how the LPC has been issued and on what ground. LPC, if found faulty, can be cancelled at any time, and if any such discrepancies are found it will be cancelled immediately, added the CO.
