AALO, Oct 16: Women from Aalo and its adjoining villages thronged Nehru Chowk Tinali, Aalo in traditional attire to participate in a massive procession organized as to mark the “Nyirmen festival”, which was celebrated with huge pomp and gaiety across the district on Monday.
Meanwhile at the festival ground, a senior citizen, Bimbi Ado Lollen deliberated on the Galo folklore and exhorted womenfolk to shoulder social responsibility and keep alive the rich culture and values. 
President NFCC, Jumken Doji Ete, Secretary Kenli Ete, Vice President Kenli Lollen, Secretary Galo Ane, Higam Loyi Ango dwelt at length on the significance and mythological aspects of Nyirmen festival and stressed on the need to inculcate the values of its preservation and promotion among the young generation.
An array of activities such as releasing of “Nyirmen Souvenir” by President, Galo Welfare Society, Nyage Geyi, distribution of prizes for cultural, Quiz and traditional weaving competition and colorful modern and traditional cultural dances marked the daylong celebration.
