MIAO, Jun 24: A high level meeting on the preparedness of COVID-19 was held at Miao, Changlang District today. Health Minister Alo Libang, Minister-UD, Food & Civil, Supply Kamlung Mossang, Deputy Speaker Tesam Pongte, MP (East) Tapir Gao , local MLAs and other government officials attended the meeting.
Speaking to reporters, Health Minister who is on Eastern Arunachal tour to take stock of the situation during the pandemic informed that they have visited Tirap and supplied 500 Viral Transport Medium (VTM) and 1000 VTM for Changlang district.
When asked about strategies to contain the pandemic, Minister opined that the only way to contain COVID-19 is to properly maintain the SOPs. ‘In this regard, government or department alone cannot do all the things. Now the NGOs, CBOs and students’ organization have to join hands and create awareness and SOPs on COVID-19.' ‘As of now, we are witnessing that everyone is supporting the government and frontline warriors,' said Libang while adding that State government has issued a directive to all the stranded people to return to the state before 30th June. After the deadline is over, sole responsibility will be on returnees to bear the expenses of sample test or quarantine centers.
Acknowledging manpower issues in the Health Department, the Minister said observing the gravity of the situation in Changlang district department has posted five additional frontline workers. Moreover to cope with the lack of manpower issue, the department has already urged the APPSC to recruit more than 60 (Allopathy) doctors and 154 nurses will be recruited through NHM, asserted the Health Minister.
When asked about any extra fund for Changlang district as it has witnessed highest COVID-19 cases, Libang informed that fund has been provided to every district as per their need base.
'If any district needs extra funds they are free to reachout to the state government. I am in regular touch with the Chief Minister and Finance Minister who have assured that fund wouldn’t be an issue to fight against COVID-19,' he said
