TEZU, May 30: After a massive and well-planned combing operation conducted by Lohit Police over the last two days, one of the fugitive who escaped from Tezu jail was apprehended on Wednesday from Danglat village with wholehearted support from villagers.
“We are searching round the clock at the peripheral jungles of township and its adjoining villages and our force is deployed in every outlet to nab the remaining three. They have fled towards the jungle of Changlang, ” informed Superintendent of Police Lohit DW Thungon. We have also circulated their photos and our phone numbers in the adjoining localities and various cattle farms in the area to nab them at the earliest, SP added.
It can be recalled that on May 28 last, four prisoners escaped from the District Jail by using makeshift ladder during broad daylight between 1.30 pm to 2 pm in the afternoon. Among the four fugitives, Kalaiso Mepo, Dolu Chakma, Lombu Thapa was convicted under different cases and Pritamber Bhuiya was an Under Trail Prisoner (UTP).
