RONO HILLS, Mar 23: Acting on the Covid-19 advisories issued by the Union HRD Ministry, UGC, New Delhi and the GoAP, RGU Vice Chancellor Professor Saket Kushwaha today chaired a high-level emergency meeting to discuss strategies ahead of the lockdown.
Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Deans of all Faculties, Statutory Officers, Dean of Students’ Welfare, Joint Registrars, Joint Director (Computer Centre), Executive Engineer, Deputy Registrar, Senior Medical Officers, Assistant Registrars and representatives of RGU Teachers’ Association, RGU Employees’ Association etc. attended the meeting which discussed steps to be taken to prevent coronavirus spread in the campus and the precautionary measures/restrictions to be followed during the lockdown.
It was decided that during the said period, faculty members and researchers shall engage themselves in various academic activities. RGU has also decided to provide a link to obtain study material on its website and apart from other prohibitions, university buses shall not ply till further orders, while all essential services shall remain functional as usual.
Assembly of more than 10 persons at the university’s offices, playground, market complex, etc has been prohibited and the administration department including departmental offices shall remain partially functional as per needs. All employees residing outside campus have been asked not to attend offices until further orders and they shall work from home. Those residing within the campus shall attend their offices as usual and any unauthorised person or vehicle from outside shall not be allowed to enter the campus.
VC while applauding the department of Chemistry for making sanitizers in its laboratory as per approved WHO norms, distributed the same to the teachers and staff in a simple function. He further assured that another 1000 vials of 50 ml content shall be provided to the university community from his own resources.
Keeping in view the panicky situation and to help mitigate the staff to gather their essential items, the university administration on requests of RGUEA and RGUTA have decided to release the salary for the month of March in advance on the 24th to all regular employees including contractual and contingency staff.
