ITANAGAR, Apr 20: Former Home Minister, Kumar Waii on Monday asked the state government to set up its own COVID-19 testing laboratory to ease its dependence on neighbouring states.
Suggesting that government should explore ways to set up its own testing lab, Waii opined that the state desperately needed a testing lab that would be able to test multiple samples.
"If there was a test facility available then the health officials would not need to send the sample to other states for testing. This will also clear the doubt in the minds of people regarding state government’s preparedness to tackle the crisis, " he emphasized.
It is to be mentioned here that Arunachal has no single COVID-19 testing facility and the nearest testing laboratory is at Dibrugarh, Assam.
Waii who was away from the media limelight for quite some time, however, responded positively to lockdown guidelines and asked the masses to remember that only through coordinated efforts of all we can minimize the threat posed by the deadly coronavirus.
He also called for people to adjust to a new way of life and participate in productive activities and create habits that are healthy for the mind, body, and spirit during the lockdown period.
