ITANAGAR, Feb 15: In a significant development, the Special Investigation Cell (VIG) has apprehended Tapi Gao, the former Director of Elementary Education, in connection with an alleged illegal appointment case involving primary teachers and Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS) in Anjaw District.
The case, registered under various sections SIC (VIG) PS C/No.04/2023 U/S 120(B)/420/409/468/471 IPC R/W Sec. 13(2) PC Act, and from an investigation initiated by Inspector Techi Nega of the SIC (Vig) during the investigation of SIC(Vig) PS C/No. 02/2023 (Illegal appointment of PRT in Longding District) it was found that similar offence of illegal appointment of teachers & MTS has been found committed in Anjaw District also.
The arrest of Tapi Gao, aged 63, comes after detailed interrogation and technical analysis conducted by the SIC (Vig). Gao, who held the position of Director of Elementary Education in Itanagar, was taken into custody on Wednesday. The ongoing investigation aims to thoroughly examine all aspects of the case, urging individuals possessing relevant information to step forward, stated a release from Superintendent of Police,SIC Anant Mittal.
Interestingly, it was noted that Tapi Gao, prior to his recent apprehension, had made headlines in 2021 by joining the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Ruksin, East Siang, in the presence of senior party leaders. Moreover, he had recently declared his candidacy to contest the upcoming Assembly Elections from the 37th Pasighat West seat, challenging the incumbent Congress MLA and former Union Minister, Ninong Ering.
