PASIGHAT, May 30: Women and Child Development (WCD) Department in collaboration with District Sports Authority organized a one day constituency wise football competition amongst adolescent girls of 38th Pasighat East Constituency under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Scheme (BBBP) at the outdoor stadium, Pasighat.
The Deputy Director (ICDS) cum Nodal Officer (BBBP), Machi Gao in her address highlighted the importance of the sports meet amongst the adolescent girls. Sharing the main objectives of such competition/meet amongst adolescent girls, Gao asserted that such effort would end the social stigma amongst girls, making compulsory girls team for all sports in schools,colleges and at NGOs level. Emphasis has been given to conduct more awareness & community mobilization for importance of sports amongst girls through NSS and NYKS volunteers, apprised the Deputy Director and further extended her gratitude to the District Sports Authority, East Siang District and all the mentors and participants for making the program successful.
The District Sport Officer, Ajong Sitek, administered the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao slogan and distributed  IEC materials including T-Shirt, Cap and Badges etc to the participants and to the mentors.
