ITANAGAR, Nov 27: The Chairman, State Food Commission, Dr L.Wangchuk along with its members N. Jamoh & Rillang Chege accompanied by BEO T Dagan today inspected several  government schools in and around the state capital to check the implementation of MDM scheme and spread awareness about cleanliness and hygiene.
The schools included Government Middle School, ESS sector, Government Higher Secondary Schools at Arunodaya, Police Colony & Ganga Village and Vivekanada Kendra Vidyalaya Chimpu. During the inspection, it was found that MDM is being served to all students till class-VIll and sometimes even to students up to class-X-XIl. Regarding cleanliness of toilets and drinking & cooking water, the visiting team observed that the facilities require more improvement. Meanwhile, the school authorities conveyed various issues and difficulties being faced by them such as lack of funds to engage sweepers and provide alternative sources of drinking water when the main water supply gets disrupted, etc. The team which inspected different schools found VKV, Chimpu to be the best in implementation of MDM along with cleanliness and hygiene. 

The team is scheduled to inspect government schools around  Naharlagun on Thursday.
