Itanagar, Feb 7: Governor of Arunachal Pradesh Brig. (Dr.) B.D. Mishra (Retd.) chaired the presentation session by the  Placement Review Committee (PRC) of its final report to the state cabinet at Raj Bhavan, today.
Chief Minister Pema Khandu, Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein, State Home Minister Kumar Waii, Education Minister Honchun Ngandam and Power Minister Tamiyo Taga were present on the occasion. PRC had been constituted by the Governor to study, deliberate and suggest ways and means of improving the institutional ranking prospects and opportunities for the students for job placement within the existing human and financial resources of the universities and educational institutions.
The Governor said that Rajiv Gandhi University, NIT and NERIST, which are centrally funded institutions, must focus on placement of its students and improvement of their institutional ranking. He emphasised on active involvement of teachers and placement cell for the success of this mission.
While agreeing with the committee report, Governor called upon the state government for the appointment of a Nodal Officer to coordinate the effort between the state government and placement cells. He also asked the RGU, NIT and NERIST to create their placement cell, which must be headed by a senior, competent, experienced and dedicated professor.
He advised the council of ministers to strengthen the placement cells by helping them in inviting the big business houses and helping the students in getting internships in good companies.
Sharing his views, Chief Minister said that it is very important to bring reforms in the education sector. Appreciating the initiative of the Governor towards university ranking and students’ placement, he called for a time frame to implement the recommendations of the Placement Committee.
Cabinet ministers, Chief Secretary Satya Gopal, and Secretary Education Dr.Madhu Rani Teotia, shared their views and supported the recommendation of the Placement Committee.
Convenor of the ‘Placement Review Committee’, Dr.Ani Taggu made a PowerPoint presentation of the committee’s study and recommendation.
