PASIGHAT, Sep 14: In an attempt to reduce maximum soil erosion by flooding Siang River in the left bank side under Mebo Sub-Division here in East Siang District, total of five villages of both East Siang and Lower Dibang Valley came together to raise flood protection works at Seram village today.
In continuation of previous similar attempts, social service on flood protection works was conducted today by more than 600 volunteers. The social service is being conducted under the aegis of SEEANG-an NGO spearheading the protection of environment in the region.The SHGs of Seram villages as a part of their community services volunteered in preparation and serving of refreshment, lunch etc to the volunteers. Many persons from Seram, Kongkul, Namsing, Borguli, Sigar and DA also visited the site.
Congratulations to the participating villages. Remaining villages will participate in the crash program in the next few days, informed SEEANG Secretary General, Mohonto Panging.
Kabang Apum,CO Mebo, Grp Captain(Rtd) Mohonto Pangging, Moba Riba ex ASC Banngo, Amit Modi, Banggo Secy Seram Banggo, Muktom Geyi HGB Banggo etc have attended the programme.
