3rd Bharat Lok Sangeet Arunachal Utsav connects with youth

TEZU, Nov 19: The 4th death anniversary of Arunachal’s first woman teacher late Telosai Mele was observed at Denning College of Teachers Education (DCTE) in collaboration with Denning Keba Society, Tezu today. To mark the day toppers of various educational institutions were also felicitated for their achievements.
Hundreds of students from various school and colleges participated in the event held at DCTE. Dr. DW Thungon , Superintendent of Police ,Lohit District and B Tega, chairman Culture and Literary Society of Mishmi (CALSOM) attended the event as Chief Guest & Guest of Honour respectively.
Addressing the gathering, Thungon appreciated the DCTE for organizing such event to commemorate the death anniversary of legendary figure of the state Late Telosai Mele who had worked and contributed to the education sector.
‘She is not only the first lady teacher but an inspiration for everyone especially for girls to stand against all odds,' added the SP.
Remembering the contribution of late Mele, Chairman CALSOM, stated ‘ her contribution towards Mishmi society and state as a whole will always be remembered for generations to come. He also appealed the students to be disciplined and determined to achieve their goal.
Among others, daughter of Late Mele, Maya Linggi, Chairman DCTE – Badang Tayang, Principal DCTE Dr Rajesh Kumar, Ojimso Tayang senior citizen also spoke on the occasion.
Late Mele joined her service as an Assistant Teacher in 1956 at Tezu and retired on 1st January 1997.
